Kristine and Enrico: I would love to make it back over to trumpets, and would truly like to organize another benefit. Lance's cancer has metastisize and spread, so we we are grappling with that. He started new chemo and it is throwing him for a loop. We are prayerful, however, that this is an initial reaction and that he will sort his way around it. He is the love of my life. perhaps Gina, Gil Parris, even John Tropea may come up with a show at Trumpets. Let me run it by Gina...I could get her to perform and also my band. that could be a pretty strong line up. Let me run it past her, and thank you again SO much for you generosity in thining of us. Love, Nicole

Dear Kristine: This is Nicole Hart...you and your husband were so immensely kind to donate your beautiful room for a Sunday benefit for my husband, Lance Ong. I thank you, thank you, with all my heart for your generosity. You have a beautiful venue! And you are beautiful, as well. With gratitude

Kristine,

Will do. Right now we are planning a big event on October 31 honoring former coaches Butch Fortunato and Clary Anderson with a 2 ton Alabama Marble rock donated in my name that was boom dropped at the Fuzzy Furlong House on Essex Avenue at Woodman Field, starting a new tradition for athletes to "kiss" the rock, or "touch" it for luck. No music involved but a lot of excitement.

To me, You and Enrico are the most inspiring and exciting musical spot. I look forward to seeing you.

To be continued,

Grange

Hi Kristine,

Grange here and I want to thank you for your expertise and input. I think you are right. I will, as we get closer to Jazz Month in Montclair, drop off some flyers and talk to you about something that could be exciting in the future.

I'm going to slow down to a gallop and listen to you.

Mike Stokes is a powerful net-worker, promoter and innovator, perhaps, collectively speaking we can create a special evening. I will put my thinking cap on.

You have truly been someone, Enrico too, so many of my friend and I, look up to and admire. A good friend of mine is former Chief Thomas J. Russo who was a major part of my journey in that Al Haig had committed a homicide, and was found guilty, but our life long friendship enabled me to have access to the archives of the prosecutor's office. Tommy is apart of UNICO and was very supportive of my book and I his.

It's all about giving back. And I thank you. I will listen to you and we will keep on keepin on.

Thanks,

Grange

Hi Kristine,
I am so sorry about the timing. I will be in Las Vegas. I'm not a gambler, but looking forward to several shows & meeting with collaborator JaiJai Jackson (owner of the Jazz Network Worldwide). I do so want to meet you and your renowned husband Enrico. Grange Rutan has told me about you in very fond terms. It is nice to have club owners who work to promote musicians as you have. I guess we are of the same heart.

Perhaps we will work something out for 10/8. I will finally get to Trumpets and meet you guys, meet my friend Grange, and introduce you to my bass playing buddy Morrie Louden (member here). By the way, I helped him build his profile here & would be happy to do the same for you when I return. We could also build a page for your club. I hope to see you soon.

Dear Kristina,

I like the idea of Ted Curson because he is so connected in the jazz world and thought of so highly. I think 6:30 p.m. on October 8 would be fine. Mike Stokes said he could do a lot of advertising on this site, facebook and myspace and I could as well with my Montclair people.

Talk to me. My phone number is 973-303-7942. Would you be putting any promo in The Montclair Times?

I'm excited. Again, can I afford this?

To be continued,

Grange

Ted Leo And The Pharmacists On World Cafe

Why The Shocking And Wrong 'Idol' Top Twelve Isn't All That Shocking Or Wrong

Many found the four eliminations on Thursday night's American Idol very surprising. We didn't.

Loston Harris On Piano Jazz

The singer and pianist began his musical study as a percussionist, but shifted to the piano after Ellis Marsalis overheard him tinkering at the keys. Today, the Loston Harris Trio is a mainstay of the Bemelmans Bar at Manhattan's Carlyle Hotel. On this episode of Piano Jazz, Harris and guest host Michael Feinstein sit down to discuss the cabaret tradition — and, of course, play a few tunes.
