About me:

www.MakinMusicNY.com

Hello there! Thanks for stopping by. Here's a little information about me...
Despite the fact that I'm extremely involved with music in the NY/NJ area today, I am not a musician. My connection to the music scene was purely accidental. When I took an early retirement from the corporate world, I wasn't sure what to do & I became restless. I was accustomed to being extremely busy. I found the answer through reconnecting to my life-long love of music. That which started as an attempt to help a friend promote his performances, evolved into a newsletter, and eventually morphed into a Music Community.

I am a former Operations Manager, Engineer, and Adjunct Professor and today I do consulting work, volunteer, and run the Web Music Community. This is my way of thanking my musician friends for the many hours of enjoyment they have given me.

My Favorite Music:
Since this is a social network, and the question is usually asked, here goes:
There is only good music & bad music.
I have a very diverse music collection, but favor music with meter and melody. I listen to everything from Monk to Muddy Waters to Metal to Mozart & everything in between.

Education:
Wagner College - Staten Island, NY
MBA - Business Administration - 2000

George Washington University - Washington,DC
Master’s Certificate in Project Management - 1999

Polytechnic University - Hawthorne, NY
MS - Telecommunications & Computing Management - 1995

Cuny Bernard M Baruch College - New York, NY
BBA - Human Resource Management / Psychology - 1974

Nicholas Payton: Live At The Village Vanguard

The Soft Pack On World Cafe

Tired of the new-wave explosion in their hometown of San Diego, The Soft Pack's Matt Lamkin and Matty McLoughlin got their start after deciding to revive old-school grunge. Later joined by Dave Lantzman and Brian Hill, the group found a knack for writing simple and catchy tunes that hint at the New York underground and subtle '60s California surf-rock.

OK Go Fights For Its Viral Video

Damian Kulash, singer-songwriter-guitarist with OK Go, talks about the group's split with its label as the result of a label policy that kept a popular video the band made from being embedded on YouTube. "This Too Shall Pass" is a viral video that took a month to make; it displays an elaborate two-story Rube Goldberg device timed to the song.

Midlake: In Tune With Nature

Voice From The Darkness: Johnny Cash's Final Record

Seven years after the death of Johnny Cash, producer Rick Rubin has selected 10 more songs among the many he produced for Cash late in the singer's life. Rock critic Ken Tucker examines the end result, the album American VI: Ain't No Grave.
